Wolfs
George Clooney and Brad Pitt play two fixers coerced to work together to dispose of a body which leads to complications in this action comedy. The title derives from the fact that fixers work alone, like lone wolfs. If you think Brad Pitt chasing an underwear clad young man through nocturnal, snow covered New York streets is action, this movie is for you. As for comedy--I only laughed during the wedding scene when the duo are wrangled into an all male Croatian circle dance. Unfortunately, the scene ends unsatisfyingly with the two drawing their guns--a lost opportunity. Clooney and Pitt are superstars. It's been 16 years since they did a movie together (Ocean's Thirteen). It should be easy to make a hit movie starring the duo. Well, not this time. This is the fault of the Jon Watt who wrote the screenplay and directed. He previously directed Spiderman: Homecoming, Spiderman: Far From Home, Spiderman: No Way Home. Boy, I often think about the two A-listers lighting up the screen in various imaginary films. How about in a remake? (They would be great in a redo of the The Sting.)
With the exception of Clooney's black BMW 550i--which gets dismantled by gunfire--the supporting players are miscast. Austin Abrams (Kid) looks like a Timothee Chalamet wannabe, except without the charisma. Amy Ryan (Margaret), whom I admire, isn't believable as a Manhattan D.A. who picks up a young man at the bar, then takes him up to her hotel room--the inciting event. Actress, producer, and women's right activist Poorna Jagannathan (June) is wasted in a small role as the back-alley doctor. Oh, the missed opportunities. The same actors in another screenplay could have been more entertaining than the current offering. I can't recommend this movie.
